‘Fortnite’ Has Already Made $1 Billion In A Ridiculously Short Amount Of Time

How Much Money Fortnite Made In March

Epic Games

Fortnite is a remarkable success. The massively popular video game is free to play, but Fortnite has already made over $1 billion from in-game purchases. We’re talking about 1,000,000,000, that’s a lot of zeros. The craziest part is that Epic Games made over one billion dollars in less than a year. These mind-boggling figures are from October 2017 until May 2018. That’s patently insane.

This awe-inspiring data comes to us via a SuperData report. Fortnite had a huge spike in February and May sales ended with a whopping $318 million in revenue. Reminder: Fortnite just arrived on Switch and iOS and isn’t even on Android yet, a move that should come within weeks. Fortnite made $100 million in the first 90 days that it was on iOS.

Another ridiculous aspect is that Epic Games hasn’t completely monetized the game as of yet. There will still be opportunities with vehicle skins and the feature of players being able to gift in-game items to other gamers.

The monster that is Fortnite continues to dominate, bot just in sales, but also on Twitch. There were 700 million hours of Fortnite gameplay watched on Twitch during the same time period. It’s no wonder that Call of Duty and Battlefield are coming with their own versions of the immensely successful Battle Royale.
