Fans of the popular sitcom Friends are asking for a scene with a chilling reference to be cut from the show following the death of Matthew Perry.

The scene in question occurs during the fifth episode of the seventh season of Friends.

During the scene, which aired in 2000 in “The One With The Engagement Picture,” Perry’s character Chandler Bing and Courteney Cox’s character Monica Gellar are getting their photo taken for their wedding announcement.

The always awkward Chandler struggles to smile naturally during the photo shoot leading Monica to ask, “What is the matter with your face? Like, this picture is supposed to say Gellar and Bing to be married. Not local woman saves drowning moron.”

The photographer then laughs at what she said to Chandler, but Monica didn’t like that, warning the photog, “Hey don’t laugh at him! He’s my drowning moron.”

“They gotta cut this scene out now,” one fan commented.

“This scene will never be watched in the same way again,” another fan wrote.

“It’s like they predicted it,” read another comment.

“I think he would like it, he had the best sense of humor,” someone else suggested, echoing several other comments.

“Could this scene BE anymore eerie?” commented another Friends fan.

Perry was found dead on Oct. 28 at age 54 at his California home. His body was discovered underwater in his hot tub by an assistant and during the 911 call someone can be heard saying the word “drowning.”

Initial reports stated Matthew Perry’s cause of death being due to drowning, but now authorities say it could be several weeks before an official conclusion is reached.

As of today, his cause of death is listed as “deferred” pending further investigation and toxicology testing by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner.
