Having a dashcam in your car is increasingly necessary these days. You never know when an accident will happen or when the police will pull you over unjustly.

This is especially true these days, as difficult as it has become to get an insurance company to cover, you know, the things that you are paying them to cover, or with law enforcement increasingly, and often wrongly, when using Flock cameras to identify vehicles.

Then there are other cases where you can be driving along down a road, following all of the laws and speed limits, and still have a police officer stop you because, well, we’re not entirely sure.

Case in point: Chris Dixon, a man who was certain he had done nothing illegal, was especially confused recently when he was pulled over for allegedly speeding. Thankfully, his Cadillac was equipped with a dashcam that recorded exactly what he was doing while driving.

In the dashcam video, a police car traveling in the opposite direction abruptly crossed a grass median and gave Chris a speeding ticket as he headed to a University of Georgia football game. In videos he posted to Instagram and YouTube, he said he makes this drive every time the Bulldogs play at home and that he bought this particular Cadillac for situations such as this.

Multiple videos of the interaction with police generated millions of views

His plight must have resonated with a lot of people because his videos have now been viewed millions of times and he has received tens of thousands of likes.

“Sir, I got a recording of this car. You can watch it,” Dixon tells the police officer after rolling down his window in one of the videos he posted to Instagram with the caption, “Headed to the game and this guy just wanted to pull someone over doing better than him.”

“When you passed us, we were going 70,” the passenger in his car told the officer. When asks the officer how fast he thinks they were going, he tells them “77.”

In a second Instagram video taken from a different angle, Dixon says, “My cruise is set. That’s why I bought this car. Because I went through something terrible…”

“I mean, you can contest it in court,” the officer interrupts.

The video then cuts to a direct shot of the dashcam video, which shows how fast he was driving and reveals a good look at the police officer flying through the grass median to pull him over.

“My cruise was set & the next thing I know I’m being ticketed for going 77 like I’m a whole criminal! Cop LIES BOLD FACE IN 4K!!” he wrote in the caption to his YouTube video.

In that video, the officer tells Chris Dixon, “I can’t go by that. That is not a state-registered device.”

Dixon eventually just tells the officer, “I’m not… we’re not going to argue. I’ll will sign whatever I got to sign, man.”

The videos sparked thousands of comments

“Pulling someone over for 7 over is wild but yall pulling up the footage during the stop is wilder,” read one comment on Instagram.

“This is just proof everybody should have recorders because cops will lie as always just to get their tickets,” someone else said.

“So he clocked you going 77 WHILE he was driving? On the other side of the road going the opposite way? That doesn’t even make sense,” read another comment.

“It’s best to just take the ticket, if you legitimately have the proof show up to court and everything will be fine,” another viewer advised. “Stop trying to have court on the side of the road.”

“There is no f—ing way he just completely drove over the grass… u better go to court n show them that s—,” another commenter wrote.
