Former NBA and Big3 players Glen “Big Baby” Davis and Will Bynum were found guilty of defrauding an insurance plan for NBA players and families on Wednesday.

The Associated Press reports Davis, 37, and Bynum, 40, were two of more than 20 people who have been convicted in the case.

Former NBA player Terrence Williams, the 11th overall pick in the 2009 draft by the New Jersey Nets, was previously sentenced to a decade in prison for his role in leading the scam.

“Moments ago, a Manhattan jury convicted former NBA players Ronald Glen Davis and William Bynum of a criminal scheme to defraud the NBA Players’ Health and Benefit Welfare Plan,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement.

“While many of the more than 20 defendants convicted in this case were well-known NBA stars, their conduct was otherwise a typical fraudulent scheme designed to defraud the NBA’s health care plan and net the defendants over $5 million in illicit profits,” he continued.

“Today’s conviction exemplifies that despite notoriety or success in sports or any other field, no one is exempt from criminal charges if they engage in fraud.”

Prosecutors presented evidence that doctors and dentists working with the former NBA players created fraudulent invoices that were submitted to the supplemental insurance plan for reimbursement.

Davis, a second round pick of the Seattle Supersonics in 2007, played eight seasons in the NBA. He averaged a career-high 15.1 points per game in the 2012-2013 season while playing for the Orlando Magic. He reportedly earned more than $33 million over this NBA career.

Bynum, who went undrafted in 2005, also played eight season in the NBA, scoring a career-high 10.0 points per game in the 2009-2010 season with the Detroit Pistons. He reportedly earned over $16 million during his NBA career.

They now face up to a maximum of 20 years in prison.
