During his recent promotional tour for Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese sat down for an interview with Timothee Chalamet in GQ Magazine.

Among the many relevant tidbits in the article, one of the most interesting is that Scorsese revealed making Goodfellas got him shunned from “certain Italian restaurants.”

“Oh my God. I was shunned for Goodfellas. Shunned in certain Italian restaurants. They wouldn’t let me in,” Scorsese told Chalamet during a recent interview with GQ.

A few years ago, at a celebration of the film’s 25th anniversary, Scorsese said something similar, as noted by Uproxx:

“When the film came out, the owner of the restaurant said we’re not allowed in anymore because we apparently denigrated a certain ethnic group for the picture,” Scorsese said.

Released in 1990, Goodfellas — considered by many to be the masterpiece work of his career — is based on the book Wiseguys, which details the rise and fall of New York City mobster Henry Hill.

Killers of the Flower Moon stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Gladstone, Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Brendan Fraser, John Lithgow, Tantoo Cardinal, Jason Isbell, Scott Shepherd, Sturgill Simpson, and more. The film will be hitting movie theaters in the United States on Friday, October 20.
