  • The first trailer for Halo premiered during the AFC Championship Game.
  • The Paramount+ series is based on the iconic video game franchise of the same name.
  • Pablo Schreiber, best known for films such as Den of Thieves and 13 Hours, stars as Master Chief.

During halftime of the AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, the first trailer for Paramount+’s upcoming Halo series was released.

A Halo series has been in production for over half a decade, as it originally had a planned 2015 release with Steven Spielberg as producer. Then, in 2018, Showtime officially gave the series a 10-episode order with Rise of the Planet of the Apes filmmaker Rupert Wyatt set to direct and executive producer. However, later that year, Wyatt stepped down as director and was replaced by Black Mirror and Peaky Blinders director Otto Bathurst and was set to release in 2021. That, obviously, didn’t happen, and in 2021, the series was shifted from Showtime to Paramount+ and set for its current 2022 release date.

Halo stars Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 and Jen Taylor star as Cortana, who voiced the character in the video game franchise. The series will also feature Natascha McElhone, Yerin Ha, Charlie Murphy, Shabana Azmi, Bokeem Woodbine, Kate Kennedy, Natasha Culzac, and Bentley Calu, and will premiere on Paramount+ on Thursday, March 24.
