Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman’ Is Going To Be A Whopping THREE-AND-A-HALF Hours Long

A couple of years ago, Netflix casually dropped $120 million on a project that sounded too good to be true: a film directed by Martin Scorsese that would feature Al Pacino teaming up with the power couple that is Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.

Since then, we’ve been treated to a steady trickle of information about the film dubbed The Irishman, an adaptation of the 2004 book I Heard You Paint Houses, which documented the rise of hitman Frank Sheeran (De Niro) and his connection to Jimmy Hoffa (Pacino), the union leader who “disappeared” in 1975.

Last month, we got our first look at the film, and shortly after, we were treated to the first trailer, and if it’s any indication, anyone who’s a fan of Goodfellas and/or Casino is going to be in for one hell of a treat.

On Tuesday, we finally learned we’ll get a chance to watch the long-awaited film when it hits Netflix on November 27th, but if you can’t wait that long, you can take advantage of the limited theatrical release when it arrives in theaters on the first of that month.

However, if you do choose to see it before it’s available on the streaming platform, you’re probably not going to want to order a large soda before you sit down.

According to Screen CrushThe Irishman will have a runtime of a whopping THREE-AND-A-HALF hours, which will make it far and away Scorsese’s longest non-documentary film to date (for the sake of comparison, Wolf of Wall Street is “only” three hours long).

I’d say I hope this will be worth the wait, but given Scorsese’s track record and the actors involved, I’m not too worried.
