It really does seem like the Jimmy G era in San Francisco is coming to an end.
On Friday, the 49ers made a big move by trading up in the draft while giving up several first-round picks in return.
Filed to ESPN: Dolphins trading No. 3 overall pick to the San Francisco 49ers for the No. 12 pick, a 2021 third-round pick (SF’s comp pick for Robert Saleh hiring) and first-round picks in 2022 and 2023, per sources.

Niners QB Jimmy Garoppolo was apparently not pleased with the trade considering everyone is assuming the team is going to draft a QB.
According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area the 49ers quarterback was “very disappointed” when learning of the trade.
“I did hear that Kyle reached out to Jimmy and had a talk with him on Friday,. “The word is that Jimmy was very disappointed that the 49ers felt that they had to make that move, trading up from No. 12 to No. 3 to get the quarterback of the future.”
Per Matt Maiocco on his podcast: Kyle Shanahan reached out to Jimmy Garoppolo, & Jimmy was “very disappointed” #49ers made the trade.
Let’s use common sense here. I highly doubt Jimmy will be back or would even want to return at this point. Just a matter of when.

The team tried to assure Jimmy that he was still their quarterback despite the trade.
And the 49ers did not trade up with one QB in mind. They traded up because they’re good with the options that will be their at No. 3.

49ers now square in the QB mix, but are holding on to Jimmy Garoppolo and have no plans to trade him, per sources.
