'Jack Ryan' News Leads To Speculation About John Krasinski MCU Future

  • John Krasinski has been starring in Prime Video’s Jack Ryan since 2018.
  • Reports indicate that the series will be coming to an end after its fourth season, which is currently filming.
  • Marvel fans think this news paves the way for the former The Office star to take on an important role in the MCU.

Currently filming its fourth season, Prime Video’s Jack Ryan series, which stars John Krasinski in the titular role made famous in the Tom Clancy novels, will be coming to an end, according to reports.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, starring and executive produced by John Krasinski, has an end date in sight, I hear. Season 4 of the Prime Video action series, which is currently filming, will be its last.

No one is commenting, but according to sources, Krasinski had committed to four seasons of Jack Ryan when he signed on to take on the famous role previously played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine. In addition to starring and exec producing, Krasinski has been helping to steer the series in a writing showrunner-type capacity during the latter part of its run. [via Deadline]

Once the news about Jack Ryan broke, Marvel fans began to speculate that this could pave the way for the 42-year-old actor and director to take on an important role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, perhaps even by utilizing both of his Hollywood skills.

Warning: this article will contain spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Krasinski makes a shocking cameo appearance as Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic, which is a role that fans have been dream-casting him in for years. Unfortunately for both Reed and MCU fans, though, his time in the role was short-lived as he was literally torn to shreds by Wanda Maximoff.

Marvel fans think and hope John Krasinski will direct and star in Fantastic Four

Still, just because he died in that alternate universe does not mean that he can’t reprise the role in the main Marvel universe, where that version of Reed Richards is presumably alive and well. That, plus the fact that Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts recently stepped away from directing Fantastic Four, has led fans to believe that Krasinski could step in as both the film’s star and its director. It should also be noted that while a third film in the A Quiet Place franchise will release next year, it will be helmed by Pig director Michael Sarnoski instead of Krasinski, who directed the first two films in the successful horror franchise.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which was directed by Spider-Man filmmaker Sam Raimi and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams, hit theaters in the United States on Friday, May 6.

The film is the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first in 2022, and will be followed by Thor: Love and Thunder on July 8 and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on November 11.
