Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hit theaters over the weekend and delivered on the promise of its title by using the premise of the multiverse to unleash all sorts of chaos in the MCU, particularly when it came to the appearance of famed Marvel heroes from other realties.

At about the halfway point of the film, as Wanda is chasing Doctor Strange and America Chavez through the multiverse, the heroic pair take refuge in Earth-838, which is the universe that’s home to the Illuminati.

Essentially the P.H.D. version of the Avengers, Earth 838’s Illuminati consists of Chiwetel Ejiofor as an alternate Baron Mordo, Lashana Lynch as an alternate Captain Marvel, Haley Atwell as Captain Carter, Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, and finally, John Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic.

Despite the excitement of the Illuminati’s introduction, their departure was just as quick as Wanda Maximoff absolutely MOPPED the floor with them, killing each member in a way more brutal than the last:

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which was directed by Spider-Man filmmaker Sam Raimi and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams, hit theaters in the United States on Friday, May 6.

Multiverse of Madness will be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe film of 2022, followed by Thor: Love and Thunder on July 8 and then Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on November 11. There’s also the bevy of TV series hitting Disney+ — such as Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and season two of What If…— this year.
