In case you didn’t go to an SEC, ACC or big greek life school, let this be your introduction to homecoming floats. They’re a big deal.

Sororities (typically the freshman led by a group of upperclassmen) partner with a fraternity (typically the pledges) to create a masterpiece that is pulled throughout the parade route and judged on appearance, theme and execution. Hours upon hours are spent “pomping” for the floats and the process is rather extensive.

“Pomping,” if you are unfamiliar, is the act of rolling tissue paper into tiny flower-like balls. They decorate the outside of the parade float.

For example:

However, the vehicle that pulls the truck is also a big part of the presentation. While it might not factor into the judging process, it’s an opportunity to show off.

The bigger, flashier that the pulling truck is, the better. Or in the case of the University of Missouri’s Kappa Kappa Gamma chapter, the tractor.

Mizzou held its homecoming game on Oct. 9 against North Texas and a video from the parade is going viral on TikTok. It’s a total flex.

As the other sororities have their floats pulled by a plethora of different Fords, Chevys and Toyotas, the KKG float was pulled by a giant four-track John Deere.

To have a massive tractor pulling your float is the definition of BDE, and it simply puts the other houses to shame. I don’t know who won the competition or what Kappa’s actual float looked like, but it doesn’t matter.

Kappa Kappa Gamma at the University of Missouri won homecoming.
