Keanu Reeves has always been popular, but 35 years into his acting career, Reeves has become perhaps the most popular actor in Hollywood.
The reason for that is not so much for his acting ability, which is excellent, but for his ability to function like a normal, empathetic human being in an industry where that sort of thing almost never happens.
From his well thought out response to the question “What happens when we die?” to helping fellow passengers make travel arrangements Reeves appears to be everything one could want in a movie star, or for that matter, in any person.
Which is why when he showed up holding hands with longtime friend Alexandra Grant at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles over the weekend, his fans freaked the hell out.

Reeves, 55, and Grant, 46, have known each other for years, first working together on Reeves’ 2011 book Ode to Happiness, and then again in 2016 on the book Shadows. Grant was the artist for both books. They then went on to co-found X Artists’ Books in 2017.
The last time most people remember Reeves appearing in public with a girlfriend was in the late 1990s when he was dating Jennifer Syme. Syme and Reeves had a baby who was stillborn and eventually broke up in large part due to the grief they both felt. Less than two years later, Syme was killed in a car accident.

As a result of that, and many other reasons, Reeves fans were ecstatic to see him making apublic appearance, holding hands with Grant.
I don’t know why I’m so happy Keanu Reeves has a girlfriend (who is age appropriate no less). I don’t know this man personally. But what happened to him sucks and he deserves some happiness.
