KFC is no stranger to experimenting and pushing the envelope when it dreams up new offerings. However, it may have gone a bit too far with a new chicken sandwich that features Oreo-inspired buns and mashed potatoes made with pieces of those cookies.
If you spent enough time online, you’ve probably come across some jokes that revolve around the concept of traveling back in time and introducing modern concepts to a small Victorian child who would possibly spontaneously combust while trying to process developments its tiny 19th-century mind couldn’t begin to fathom.
However, I feel like you’d also be able to get a similar reaction if you traveled back to the original Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in the 1940s and showed Colonel Sanders some of the menu items the chain that’s now known as KFC has introduced in the 21st century.
After all, we’re talking about a restaurant that set the internet on fire when it introduced the Double Down, a sandwich featuring pieces of fried chicken as buns, in 2010, and the same one that replaced pieces of bread with donuts in 2019.
However, it may have outdone itself with a new offering it’s unleashed upon an unsuspecting world.

Oreo is currently selling three limited-edition flavors as part of a contest to see which one gets a larger production run, which includes one inspired by chicken and waffles.
However, if you are (for some reason) really craving a combination of Oreos and fried chicken, that’s not the only way to get your fix.
KFC recently teamed up with the brand for a spicy chicken cookie that’s only available in China, but that wasn’t the end of the collaboration.
According to Dexerto, KFC outposts in the country are now selling a chicken sandwich that features Oreo-inspired chocolate buns, an offering that also features mashed potatoes that are mixed with cookie crumbs (there’s also some lettuce you can use to tell yourself you made a good decision despite all other evidence to the contrary).

I’m generally a “Don’t Knock It Til You Try It” kind of guy, and while I assume this wouldn’t have made it to market if it wasn’t at least somewhat palatable, I still have to say I’m skeptical. I won’t be making the trek to China to try it myself, but I’m definitely looking forward to reviews from people who were brave enough to order it.
