Kit Harington Wishes Jon Snow Was The One Who Got To Kill The Night King

Despite the fact that it’s been months since Game of Thrones wrapped up its underwhelming eighth and final season, the public discourse around the show continues.

Whether it be Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin saying that he does not think the series “was very good” for him, the release of the series finale’s script, or the first look at Naomi Watts in the prequel series BloodmoonGame of Thrones still dominates the internet discussion unlike any other show on television.

Now, with the Emmy Awards just a handful of weeks away, the conversation around the series has once again ramped up, this time thanks to an interview with Kit Harington.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Harington discussed a variety of topics, including how he felt about Arya Stark — and not Jon Snow — being the one who got to deal the final death blow to the omnipotent evil that was The Night King:

“I was a bit pissed off, only because I wanted to kill the Night King! I think I felt like everyone else did, in that it had been set up for a long time, and then I didn’t get to do it. But I was so happy for Maisie and Arya. I was secretly like, “I wanted to do that!” Especially because I love fighting with Vlad, who also played the White Walker I fought at Hardhome. I’ve never seen a better swordsman. But it was a really great twist, and it tied up Maisie’s journey in a really beautiful way. Over the seasons, we’ve seen her build up these skills to become this hardened assassin, and she uses it all to kill our main antagonist.” [The Hollywood Reporter]

Harington will be making his return to our television screens on Sunday, September 22, when he competes for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

In addition to Harington, Billy Porter (Pose), Jason Bateman (Ozark), Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us), Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), and Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) are also nominated for the award.
