Just last week, before the entire planet was flipped upside, Tom Holland — who was promoting Pixar’s Onward — discussed the upcoming third film in his Spider-Man franchise as he teased its “insane” story and revealed that production was set to begin this Summer.
Given that production was previously scheduled to begin in July, that means the story for the film has likely been completed, which means we’re on the verge of finding out more details about the film, such as its name and primary antagonist.
And according to recent rumors, the film is going to be called Spider-Man: Home Run and it is going to feature Kraven the Hunter as the main villain.
According to a post on 4Chan, the film will be titled Spider-Man: Home Run, the villain will be Kraven the Hunter and Marvel are eyeing either Henry Cavill or Jason Momoa for the part. [via We Got This Covered]
While these latest murmurs should be taken with a grain of salt, Kraven the Hunter has been rumored to be featured in Spider-Man 3 for some time now, as we’ve previously reported on his potential appearance for a few months.
Considering the way that Spider-Man: Far From Home ended — Spider-Man having his secret identity of Peter Parker revealed to the world — incorporating Kraven and his “hunter” aspects is a perfect fit. Plus, Kraven the Hunter has yet to make his cinematic debut, which presents a unique opportunity for Marvel to truly make a Spider-Man villain their own.
At this time, the still-untitled third film in the Spider-Man franchise is set to hit theaters on July 16, 2021.
