Just a week after word came in that Rosario Dawson would be portraying fan-favorite Jedi Ahsako Tano in season two of The Mandalorian, reports indicate that Disney is currently planning on giving the character her own series, as they are currently in the very early stages of developing a solo series. Similar to The Mandalorian, the series would air on Disney+.

Recently it was confirmed that Ahsoka Tano would be making her live action debut in the second season of The Mandalorian, and Rosario Dawson has been cast as the fan-favorite character from The Clone Wars and Rebels. If everything goes to plan, her appearance in the second season of The Mandalorian won’t be the only time we see the character in live action.

According to a source who has been 100% accurate when it comes to the Disney+ series, they are planning on spinning off Ahsoka into a live action series following Season 2 of The Mandalorian, but it’s very very early in development. It’s not known how this will connect or affect the rumored animated Rebels sequel. [via Star Wars Unity]

Given the success of The Mandalorian and the relative struggles on the film front, it makes sense that Disney is preparing to make the future of the Star Wars universe as much of a television product as it is a movie product. While they’re certainly not going to abandon the traditional movie format, Disney clearly recognizes that television now provides an equally rich medium to tell their big-budget stories.

At this time, season two of The Mandalorian is set to hit Disney+ in October. All eight episodes of the first season are currently streaming. Additionally, all of The Clone Wars can also be found on Disney+.
