Megyn Kelly thinks Olivia Rodrigo is a "moron" and an "idiot"
Megyn Kelly is extremely angry with pop star Olivia Rodrigo for using her First Amendment rights to share her opinion about the Cornell 7 case. Kelly, 55 years old, went as far as calling Rodrigo, 23, a “moron.”
On her show this week, Megyn Kelly called Olivia Rodrigo a “know-nothing moron” and an “idiot” after the singer publicly backed the woman suing Cornell University and seven fraternity members. Kelly also said that the victim was “not the most attractive girl”
Megyn Kelly called Olivia Rodrigo a “know-nothing moron” and told her to “stick to singing” over her support of the Cornell 7 Jane Doe
“Olivia, in sum, you don’t know what the f— you’re talking about. Shut up and stick to singing,” Kelly said. “I liked you better when you were in front of a microphone singing your weird little depressing songs.”
“It’s better to keep your mouth shut and let people suspect you’re an idiot than to open it and prove them right. Ever hear that saying? It applies to you, sweetheart… We don’t need the participation of know-nothing morons who have been auto-tuned into fame and suddenly think they have something profound to say on the culture wars.”
Over the weekend, Rodrigo took to her Instagram account, where she has over 42 million followers, to address the headline-grabbing case.
“Shame on Cornell and on every institution who protects rapists and abusers over women. I stand with Jane Doe,” Rodrigo wrote.
“Her bravery reverberates across the country and the crimes against her will not go unpunished. What she lived through matters, and so does the failure of those who could have intervened but chose not to. She deserves answers, consequences, and lasting change.”
Jane Doe’s civil lawsuit, filed on September 16, alleges that seven Chi Phi members drugged and sexually assaulted her at the fraternity house on October 19, 2024. Late last month, the Tompkins County district attorney said that his office is reopening its criminal investigation, which ended without charges in November 2024. At this time, no criminal charges have been filed.
One defendant’s attorney has said his client attended the party and sent Snapchat messages he called “regrettable and ugly,” but did not take part in a sexual assault and wasn’t aware the woman was in distress, according to NPR. Cornell conducted a Title IX investigation, and the fraternity has been barred from campus.
Based on Kelly’s comments about Rodrigo and her general opinion of the case, the conservative commentator appears to be more in the corner of the alleged assailants than the victim. So much so, in fact, that she apparently thinks people who are speaking out in support of Jane Doe are “morons” and “idiots.”
