Michael B. Jordan is one of the biggest movie stars in the world these days. And still, even he hasn’t forgotten where he’s come from.
Over the weekend, the Creed III star went massively viral for dunking on a red-carpet interviewer who apparently used to make fun of the 36-year-old actor when they were younger. Jordan clearly never forgot and used the moment to call her out on it.
During a red carpet interview for his new film Creed III, which marks his directorial debut and hits theaters on March 3, Jordan called out the interviewer — who was his classmate at Chad Science Academy in Newark, New Jersey — for calling him corny and making fun of him when they were younger.
“We go way back, all the way back to Chad Science [Academy] in Newark,” Morning Hustle host Lore’l said to begin the interview.
“Oh yeah, I was the corny kid, right?” Jordan responded, apparently referring to remarks that Lore’l made on a podcast.
Despite claiming that she was “misquoted”, Jordan didn’t let her slide and said that he heard the “corny” comment directly from her mouth.
“No you did not hear me say that! I said we used to make fun of the name,” she responded. “But yeah, he is obviously killing things out here.”
Here are the comments Jordan was referring to, which she made on her Underdressing Room podcast:
“You know what’s so crazy? I went to school with Michael B. Jordan at a point in life. And to be honest with you, we teased him all the damn time because his name was Michael Jordan. Let’s start there, and he was no Michael Jordan.”
“He also would come to school with a headshot. We lived in Newark, that’s the hood. We would make fun of him like, ‘What you gonna do with your stupid headshot!?’ And now look at him!”
Jordan has not only gone on to star in the Creed franchise but has also starred in films such as Black Panther, Just Mercy, A Journal for Jordan, Without Remorse, and Wakanda Forever.
In addition to Michael B. Jordan, Creed III stars Tessa Thompson, Jonathan Majors, Wood Harris, Florian Munteanu, and Phylicia Rashad.
