After eating raw pasta, one TikToker left a note complaining about the experience on the restaurant table. However, not everyone backed her decision.
All servers strive to leave a memorable impression, but in this viral TikTok, it’s clear that Ava’s (@avaxojane) server was memorable for all the wrong reasons.
The TikTok, which has garnered 1.7 million views, is a picture of a note written on the back of a receipt. It sits on top of a used plate. It read, “Pasta was RAW. I ate it anyways so I don’t get blackout drunk.”
Accompanying on-screen text also read: “Drunk me thought this was aesthetic.”
Ava also tagged the restaurant and its location, revealing that it is The Sauce Italian Kitchen & Bar.

What Did Commenters Think Of The Raw Pasta Note?
Ava’s note ended up sparking some serious debate in the comments section. Users couldn’t agree on whether the note was necessary, or yet another customer ick servers have to deal with.
“I just know it was perfectly al dente,” one wrote.
“Tell them before you finish your plate?” a second suggested. “That’s on you.”
“They don’t need your business,” a third added.
While a fourth said, “As a server, either tell us when it happens or just don’t say anything. Nothing happened with that note except going straight in the trash.”
However, other commenters took Ava’s side.
“As a server, I’m siding with you because why do you have your receipt and obviously about to leave yet also not a single plate is cleared/prebussed?” a fifth pointed out.
“Wait no because drunk me would have thought the same thing,” a sixth admitted.
While a seventh queried, “Why is everyone mad about some feedback?”
Should You Leave A Complaint Note For Your Server?
The question of whether it’s right to leave a complaint note for servers was also addressed on the r/TalesFromYourServer subreddit.
“My girlfriend and I went out to eat and I ordered the Mac n cheese side for an extra dollar,” the Redditor explained. “They brought out basic fries instead. I let it go and didn’t want to bother the waitress over a dollar or Mac. I ate it. But I wanted to leave a note simply saying that it’s ok but I was charged for the Mac n cheese but received fries. My girlfriend thinks that would have been rude. Is it?”
The consensus was pretty clear: always be respectful.
“It’s how you say it and when you say it,” one explained. “You should have said something as soon as you got the meal. That way it could have been instantly handled. When you got the fries, say, ‘Hey I ordered mac n cheese and you guys gave me fries. I don’t mind eating the fries, but I don’t want to get charged for the wrong item.’ Easy. Just be kind.”
A second added, “Yeah, in my opinion, that’s passive aggressive. You had two times you coulda said something and it wouldn’t been a big deal whatsoever […] Leaving a note only goes to shame the server, lemme be honest they’ll be waking up a week from now in a cold sweat thinking ‘THAT GUY ORDERED THE MAC AND I DROPPED FRIES!!?’ lol.”
As for Ava, she did reveal in a comment that she spoke up earlier about it but that the server was “very rude.”
