A historic landmark in Arlington, Texas was demolished over the weekend. The 19-story, 42-year-old Sheraton Arlington Hotel was blown up and leveled to make way for a new luxury Americana by Loews Hotels.
Anyone who woke up to watch the demolition was treated to a masterclass in pyrotechnics as the 19-story hotel which loomed over Arlington folded in on itself like a house of cards crashing down. It was truly a sight to behold.
Historic Sheraton Arlington Hotel Demolished In Texas
Longtime BroBible readers are fully aware by now that I have a mild obsession with hotel demolitions. There is just something so perfect about meticulous planning to take down a building surrounded by commerce and suburbia and watching it evaporate into thin air because the pyrotechnics went off without a hitch. Every time I see a great demolition video I’m reminded that I went into the wrong industry and my guidance counselor never told me this was an option…
Fox News 4 Dallas-Fort Worth live streamed the Sheraton Arlington Hotel implosion for the whole world to see. Check it out:
Compared to the recent demolition of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Miami which caused a massive dust storm that engulfed downtown, the demolition of the historic Sheraton went off without a hitch. They went through the countdown, pressed the ignition button, and boom, it came down like it wasn’t a 19-story building which had been standing there for decades and even recently hosted a wrestling convention during an AEW event weekend in the area.
The resort was demolished to make way for a new $550 million, 83,000 sqft resort that is expected to be opened some time in late 2028 or 2029.
