I’m not sure I’ll ever get tired of watching things happen in slow-mo HD. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m hooked on The Slow Mo Guys YouTube channel.

Yesterday, we watched as they filmed Shaolin monks throwing needles through panes of glass to pop balloons, a skill that takes 10 years to learn. Today, they’ve released a new clip where they’re splitting bullets in mid-air using an axe.

This is actually a pretty complicated experiment to set up because you need a remote trigger to fire the bullet and you need the axe completely secured in place so it doesn’t budge on impact. Then you need to line up laser precision so you’re not firing and correcting the trajectory all day long. The Slow Mo Guys managed to pull this off in style and they filmed it using their high-speed 4K camera. The end result looks totally awesome in slow-mo HD:

Ever since The Slow Mo Guys launched ‘The Super Slow Show’ on YouTube a few weeks ago they’ve been pumping out some of my favorite videos on the web. I’m actually most impressed by how they can get access to some pretty huge celebrities for their videos like when they got Kevin Durant to dunk a ball in slow-mo and Tony Hawk throwing down a Heel Flip Sex Change Melon Grab on the halfpipe. I guess when you’ve got 10.4 million subscribers on YouTube and rake in over 1 million views on every video you can pretty much score any guests you want, right?
