The pop culture world was stunned earlier this month when it was revealed that after four years of marriage Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are getting a divorce.

The couple, who began dating in 2016 and became engaged in 2017, reportedly had an argument on August 15th and Jonas filed for divorce on September 1st.

Turner now says in court documents that she found out that Jonas had filed for divorce “through the media.”

Shortly thereafter, Jonas, 34, and Turner, 27, issued a joint statement claiming they “have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” adding, “There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision.”

Some of speculation stemmed from a TMZ report that Jonas allegedly caught Turner in Ring camera footage doing something that led him to realize the marriage was broken beyond repair.

Now, she is suing Joe Jonas in a Manhattan federal court requesting “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained,” according to court documents obtained by Page Six.

Jonas has reportedly been the primary parent responsible for caring for their two young children over the past three months, even while he and his brothers were on tour.

Sophie Turner claims that she and Jonas agreed over Christmas 2022 that they would make their “forever home” England while she began filming the mini-series Joan over there.

She also claims that “with some hesitation” she agreed to let Joe care for the kids while he toured because, according to TMZ, she was going to be shooting a “very intense,” time-consuming series, but when she was done filming she would “collect the children and return home to England.”

“The children would then at least be able to spend some time during the day with one of their parents until the Mother finished her filming commitments,” Page Six reports Turner’s court filing states, and that it would only be a “temporary arrangement.”

Now, “The Father has possession of the children’s passports,” the court documents claim. “He refuses to return the passports to the Mother and refuses to send the children home to England with the Mother.”

Turner cites the Hague Convention – which protects “children from the harmful effects of international abduction by a parent by encouraging the prompt return of abducted children to their country of habitual residence” – and also says she will be filing a separate lawsuit in the United Kingdom against Jonas.
