Survey Ranks Highest And Lowest Rated Fast Food Chains In Every State And Major US City

A new survey has ranked the favorite (and least favorite) fast food chains in every state and major city in the United States.

The survey results were then broken into five types of fast food chains: burgers, pizza, doughnuts, chicken and Mexican.

Here’s how they did it…

We identified the best-known fast-food chains for burgers, pizza, doughnuts, chicken and Mexican food. Then we located the branches of these in every state and the 50 most populous cities and analyzed the ratings they have on Google Maps. We created a weighted averaging system to calculate the top- and bottom-rated fast-food chains in each region.

And here’s what they discovered…

The survey, conducted by CashNetUSA, found Chick-fil-A to be the top-rated fast-food chain in the most states (34) and the most major cities (27).

Interestingly, LaMar’s Donuts and Coffee and Papa Murphy’s were each ranked number one in four states, especially considering the fact that LaMar’s is only located in five states.

The highest rated burger joint by number of states listing it at the top was Five Guys (29). Culver’s also received the top vote in numerous states. When broken down by city, however, In-N-Out Burger was the tops.

McDonald’s and Burger King were by far the least favorite burger restaurants both by state as well as at the city level.

Krispy Kreme was the highest rated doughnut place in 17 states, topping that category (though it strangely also came in last in two states). Dunkin’ was by far the lowest rated doughnut chain coming in last in 31 different states.

The fast food chain rated the lowest in the most states was Papa John’s (16). Taking it down to the city level, Domino’s was rated the worst in 21 major cities.

A couple of other pizza places that also didn’t rank well overall were Pizza Hut and Little Caesars, who also came in last in several states (4 and 1 respectively).
