The ‘King Of K-Pop’ Reportedly In Talks With The ‘Sphere’ In Preparation For Big Global Comeback

The Sphere G-Dragon

The first-ever residency at the Sphere is set to conclude with U2’s final performance on the second of March. From there, only one additional performance is scheduled for the world’s most viral entertainment venue.

Phish will play four nights at the Sphere over 4/20 weekend. Other than that, it is entirely unclear as to who or what might next take the stage in Las Vegas.

Beyonce, Harry Styles, Bon Jovi, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Dead & Company are considered to be the most-likely candidates to replace U2. However, nothing has been made official and there are reportedly some high monetary demands that are keeping a deal from getting done.

One new name has also emerged over the last few days. According to a new report from Iglan Sports, G-Dragon is in talks with Madison Square Garden and Sphere Entertainment about a possible performance (or performances) in 2024.

There are two decisions that need to be made before discussions can continue further.

  1. Will G-Dragon perform solo?
  2. Will G-Dragon perform one night at the Sphere or hold a multi-night residency?

Either way, the draw to Las Vegas for G-Dragon at the Sphere would be insane. He is considered to be the ‘King of K-Pop’ as the lead member of BIGBANG out of South Korea.

G-Dragon and BIGBANG played their last show together in 2018 before serving their mandatory military service. The 35-year-old frontman later teased a solo comeback early in 2023.

However, he was booked on drug charges last October as part of a large, nationwide crackdown on narcotics. G-Dragon was recently cleared of all allegations surrounding illegal drug use on Dec. 20.

The Incheon Metropolitan Police dropped the charges after failing to obtain any testimonies that supported the claims against him. He has remained consistent in his denial of any illegal drug use throughout the entire investigation, which included lengthy police questioning.

G-Dragon recently made his first public appearance since the charges were dropped. Hundreds of fans swarmed to the event just to get a peek at the international South Korean superstar.

It would be a huge deal internationally if G-Dragon was to return to music. It would be an even bigger deal if he was to announce his comeback with a residency at the Sphere. Stay tuned!
