Tom Cruise Walks The Walk, Claims He Did The ‘Barbie’ & ‘Oppenheimer’ Double Feature

Tom Cruise is obviously in the business of promoting *his* movies, the most recent of which is Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. But Tom Cruise is also a major advocate for the theatrical experience, in general, which explains why he recently promoted three movies that have absolutely nothing to do with him.

That’s right, in the midst of his global Mission: Impossible press tour, Cruise took to social media to share photos of himself and Dead Reckoning Part One director Christopher McQuarrie holding up stubs for a trio of upcoming summer blockbusters: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Barbie, and Oppenheimer.

Additionally, Cruise also appeared to claim that he did a double feature of Barbie and Oppenheimer, which, of course, has been a running joke in the pop culture world for months now ever since it was confirmed that both wildly different films would be hitting theaters on the same day: Friday, July 21.

“This summer is full of amazing movies to see in theaters. Congratulations, Harrison Ford, on 40 years of Indy and one of the most iconic characters in history. I love a double feature, and it doesn’t get more explosive (or more pink) than one with Oppenheimer and Barbie,” Cruise wrote on Twitter.

Cruise showing his support for these other films, particularly Oppenheimer, is quite interesting as reports from a few weeks ago indicated that the action movie icon was frustrated with Christopher Nolan’s nuclear bomb film taking IMAX screens away from Dead Reckoning Part One.

In addition to Hollywood legend Tom Cruise, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One also stars Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Ving Rhames, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, Shea Whigam, and more. The film will hit movie theaters in the United States on Friday, July 12. Check out the official trailer below.

At this time Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is currently scheduled to hit theaters in the summer of 2024.
