The huge Wayne Manor estate from the 1960s ‘Batman’ TV series is on sale in Pasadena, California, for just $32 million. That represents a 56% increase over its $20.5 million off-market sale last summer, which broke the record for the most expensive house ever sold in the city.
And it’s worth every penny. At least for some people.
Batman’s Wayne Manor is truly a one-of-a-kind property
According to the estate’s listing on Realtor.com, the 18,655 square-foot home at 380 S. San Rafael Ave. was built in 1928 and comes with seven bedrooms, seven-and-a-half bathrooms and a four-car garage.
Calling it “one of the most extraordinary residential offerings in Southern California,” the estate’s description adds that it is “set on nearly 5 private, gated acres” (not including the Batcave secretly concealed below the home, one has to assume) and is “hidden behind gates and enveloped by majestic oaks, manicured gardens, and rolling lawns.”
“Its iconic castellated tower, slate rooflines, leaded-glass windows, and exquisitely preserved period detailing showcase a level of craftsmanship and permanence that is virtually impossible to replicate today,” the home’s description continues.
The estate has a tremendously storied history
“Steeped in cultural history, the estate is recognized worldwide as the exterior of Wayne Manor in the original Batman television series and has been featured in numerous acclaimed film and television productions,” the description states.
The home has also been featured in movies like Stand By Me, Rush Hour, and Bridesmaids, as well as on the TV show Murder, She Wrote.

In February 1928, the Pasadena Star-News reported that a permit granted to the S.M. Bernard Company detailed plans to construct one of Pasadena’s “largest and finest” estates: a two-story, basement-level, 27-room French Norman home designed by Morgan, Walls & Clements for the late S.M. Bernard’s three sons. According to reports, the cost was around $141,000, or almost $2.8 million in modern currency.
