A team of investigators say they have spoken to a whistleblower who claims the FBI lab in Virginia has a “partial DNA” sample of the infamous Zodiac Killer and a suspect to go with it.

According to Thomas J. Colbert and his CaseBreakers team, the FBI “secretly listed” a suspect in the case back in 2016: U.S. Air Force veteran Gary Francis Poste.

For over 50 years, the identity of the Zodiac Killer, who murdered five known victims in the San Francisco Bay Area (and claimed to have killed 37 people), has gone unsolved. At least that is what the FBI claimed.

In 2014, neighbors and supporters in the High Sierra town of Groveland gave up the goods on 77-year-old Poste. “Jaw-dropped” FBI agents in Watsonville were shown his elaborate escape map, photos, dual identities, cryptic clues (right), shell casings – and in 2016, his DNA.

But witnesses and emails reveal the feds, Riverside PD and SFPD whitewashed the residents’ heroics and seized their briefcase with all of the critical documentation.

Now, a person claiming to be a senior FBI agent is breaking their silence.

“I stay in contact with several FBI agents who are my friends from my investigation days,” the whistleblower said. “While speaking with one of them, I mentioned Zodiac and specifically Gary Francis Poste (GFP). Without prompting the FBI agent, they look up GFP and told me he was listed as the FBI suspect. Then they told me they had a partial DNA of the Zodiac.”

Poste has long been considered a potential suspect by amateur sleuths.

The whistleblower added, “Like cops, federal agents are dealing with huge caseloads, constant training, odd rules and bureaucracy.

“But when someone wearing a badge or uniform works with others to avoid or hide materials, sidestep difficult procedures, or lie about evidence, they’re hurting our volunteers and the thousands of families waiting for answers. That includes the ten siblings left in the Zodiac victim families. Sadly, the team has documented over two dozen examples of law enforcement unprofessionalism in the field.”

When asked to comment on these claims, the FBI office in San Francisco told Fox News, “The FBI’s investigation into the Zodiac Killer remains open and unsolved. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, and out of respect for the victims and their families, we will not be providing further comment at this time.”

So I guess this means that we still can’t rule out Ted Cruz as a suspect?
