Watch Brad Pitt As Four-Star General In First Trailer For Netflix’s ‘War Machine’

In 2015, Netflix showed that they not only want to be a streaming superpower with hit TV shows, but also a movie production powerhouse when they released Beasts of No Nation. Viewers embraced the film and it did get some Hollywood consideration with several nominations from the Golden Globes, BAFTA Film Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Idris Elba won a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role. Then Netflix got Will Smith for their upcoming fantasy film “Bright.” Netflix went and got another big star in Brad Pitt for their upcoming original movie titled “War Machine.” Ooof. Shit timing for that title huh?

Netflix not only got Brad Pitt to star in the film, but also has an impressive cast including Emory Cohen, RJ Cyler, Topher Grace, Anthony Michael Hall, Anthony Hayes, John Magaro, Scoot McNairy, Will Poulter, Lakeith Stanfield, Josh Stewart, Meg Tilly, Tilda Swinton, and Sir Ben Kingsley. They even got Cameron, I mean Alan Ruck, from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off!”

Here’s the synopsis:

An absurdist war story for our times, writer-director David Michôd (Animal Kingdom) recreates a U.S. General’s roller-coaster rise and fall as part reality, part savage parody – raising the specter of just where the line between them lies today. His is an exploration of a born leader’s ultra-confident march right into the dark heart of folly. At the story’s core is Brad Pitt’s sly take on a successful, charismatic four-star general who leapt in like a rock star to command NATO forces in Afghanistan, only to be taken down by a journalist’s no-holds-barred exposé.

“War Machine” will be available to stream on Netflix from 26 May, 2017.
