Is Binge Watching Bad For You?

Thanks to Netflix we can get an entire season of our favorite TV shows all at one time. That means that instead of getting our 43-minute television shows spread out over 10 weeks, we get to binge watch the shit out of them over a weekend where the weather is beautiful outside. But is binge watching bad for you? That is the question that YouTube scientists AsapSCIENCE tackled in their latest viral video.

Guess what? Having your eyes fixated at a screen for 12 hours, as your lay on your bed shoving Cheesy Poofs down your fat gullet isn’t actually good for you. But you don’t have to take my word for it, this informative video explains the dangers of binge watching. Not only is the sedentary lifestyle unhealthy, but it can affect your sleep and your sperm. Plus there are increased rates of diabetes, heart disease, just to name a few negative effects of watching TV for hours on end.

You should enjoy some mindless television, but as in everything else, it’s best in moderation. Do you really need to watch every episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer or Robsessed: Life of Robert Pattinson? The answer is a definitive “no.” Maybe check out the last 30 minutes of Robsessed: Life of Robert Pattinson.
