The premier of Saturday Night Live’s 42nd season started off with a bang, as Michael Che dropped a possibly scripted, possibly not N-bomb while addressing the National Anthem situation.
“I expect white guys to defend the national anthem like I expected Phylicia Rashad to defend Bill Cosby. I’m sure when all the people were protesting The Cosby Show, Claire Huxtable was like, ‘I don’t know what he did to y’all, but n**** made me rich,’” Che said. “I know that it’s inconvenient to bring up such heavy issues at a football game, but that’s the point. It’s supposed to be inconvenient. It’s a protest.”
This isn’t the first time an SNL cast member has dropped the N-bomb, as Sasheer Zamata said it in May while discussing the controversy surrounding Larry Wilmore’s use of it at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Will Ferrell sang it while covering “Big Poppa” as Robert Goulet and Kanye West also used it during his musical performance, reports TV Guide.
On top of dropping the N-word halfway through the sketch, Che will likely receive his fair share of criticism when the world wakes up today for calling the National Anthem ‘boring.’
“How’d they even notice that someone was kneeling? That’s how boring the National Anthem is,” Che said. “Halfway through it, you’re looking around like, ‘I wonder what the backup quarterback for the 49ers is up to.'”
Twitter had some thoughts…
So can #michaelche be fired yet? Not funny. Dropping F bombs an awkward joke about shooting a child…… #notfunny #SNLPremiere @SNLUpdate

Michael Che drops the first n-word of the #SNL season. Sasheer Zamata waited 19 episodes last season.
