That Whole Feud Between ‘The Rock’ And Vin Diesel? Yeah, It’s Reportedly A BS Publicity Stunt

Remember how I and many others speculated that the whole beef between Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel on the set of Fast & Furious 8 was a setup to promote the movie which comes out right after WrestleMania next April?

The timing was just too good not to go all conspiracy theory on it. WrestleMania is April 2 while Fast 8 comes out on April 14. Toss in the fact that “The Rock” going off on anyone he works with in such a public manner and it reeked of a promo.

Turns out, according to a new report, that’s EXACTLY what is was.

In the latest issue of Life & Style, an insider reveals that while there is some truth to the recent rivalry between Fast & Furious stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel, the beef is largely a publicity stunt to amp up drama for a WWE wrestling match — and to help promote the April 2017 release of Fast 8.

“They are playing a huge prank, and it’s all for publicity,” the insider shares.

This would also explain why Vin Diesel, who promised to “tell us everything” in a Facebook Live session following “The Rock” going off and since then has actually told us nothing.

In fact, Diesel even praised Johnson a few days ago in another Facebook Live session saying he “shined” in the role. He also said Hobbs was originally written for Tommy Lee Jones, which, WTF?

It also helps explain why Jason Statham was so mum about the alleged beef when asked recently…

“Look, Dwayne’s his own man and what he says he’s entitled to say in his own way,” Statham told PEOPLE while promoting his upcoming movie Mechanic: Resurrection in Beverly Hills. “And what he wants to say – you’ve got to ask him.”

Not cool, guys. Not cool at all. (I’ll still watch both the movie and WrestleMania though.)
