An Emotional Tracy Morgan Cried During His First Television Interview Since Crash

Tracy Morgan gave his first on-camera interview this morning since the deadly car accident that nearly took his life last year. Speaking to Matt Lauer on the Today Show, the comedian opened up about the tragedy and his long road back.

Morgan was understandably emotional, breaking down repeatedly as he recalled the accident and his friend, James McNair, who was killed.

Morgan also revealed he watched YouTube footage of the incident every day because he needed to understand what happened.

The eight-minute appearance was tough to watch for fans of the comedian for two reasons. First, the obvious tragedy is still fresh. But it’s also difficult to see the goofy Morgan experience such grief.

That said, it was fantastic to see him back in front of cameras again. And there’s hope, too. Morgan revealed he wants to return to comedy as soon as possible.

I think I speak for all of us when I say I can’t wait to see him in a more lighthearted situation very, very soon.
