This past weekend I hit up a rager in Vegas that Corona sponsored called Electric Beach. A day party, this was one of the several day parties during Vegas’s Cinco de mayo weekend. Many celebrities, high-rollers, and of course DJs descended upon the oasis in the desert last weekend largely because of Floyd Mayweather vs. Pacquiao that turned out underwhelming. The days leading up to the fight were absurd. Las Vegas drew millions, for the fight including plenty regular travelers that were there to either gamble or party.
I was one of those, in Vegas, not at the fight people, but those Day Parties were definitely enough for one weekend. For example, last Saturday afternoon David Guetta kicks off Corona’s Electric Beach summer series. 4,500 people showed up to Encore Beach Club at Wynn Las Vegas where the venue stopped selling tickets by noon. At one moment, Russell Westbrook appeared briefly, behind the DJBooth, until security denied his stage access and kicked him out!! Making plans wasn’t an issue if you had like ‘$50,000 for a table at Hakkasan.’

Las Vegas has a habit of giving you the perfect goodbye. Like seeing Vince Neil pull up to the hotel in a Lamborghini convertible.

But last weekend called fight weekend ended up being Cinco De Mayo weekend. DJ’s like DJ Khaled on Friday at Tao Beach Club, Carnage at Marqueee Day Club, Diplo Saturday night at Surrender, Avicii on Friday at Encore Beach Club, and the man of the hour Calvin Harris twice at Omnia with Burns shined all weekend despite the epic boxing match failing to live up to expectations. Thanks goodness for DJ’s too because David Guetta was on smash that 90 degree afternoon where drinks were flowing afternoon, gorgeous girls in bikini swim suits were getting loose inside the crystal blue pool, and Corona was handing out free swag all afternoon from that side stage table. According to gambling experts, Cinco de mayo weekend with the fight had an expectation of at least $150 million excluding gambling. No one will ever know how much Vegas made last week, I’m just glad I was there watching the greediness go down. Oh did we mention Mayweather wants to fight Pacquiao again… Check out some of the photos from parties last weekend.
