Todd Snyder Links Up With Legent Bourbon For A One-Of-A-Kind Selvedge Denim Jacket

Do you ever find yourself scrolling like a zombie through Instagram, noticing ads for different menswear brands and thinking “man… why does this stuff look… the same?”

Happens to me on a daily basis. There’s something missing from the modern menswear experience, where the shopper experiences an item digitally rather than having it catch the eye in a retail environment. There’s plenty of flash and flair – Anyone with some product savvy, a marketing vision, a dropship budget, and the necessary skills with Adobe Suite can engineer a brand’s identity.

So what’s missing from that equation?

Why the emptiness?

Perhaps its the story of craftsmanship – Or the lack thereof.

Craftsmanship in a product warrants a moment of pause.

You know it when you see it. Or rather, when you experience it. The craftsmanship of a great desk. An automatic watch. A new favorite pair of boots. A guitar.

In a bourbon.

Items with a heritage, crafted by people who are proud to make them.

Legent Bourbon is a relatively new bourbon in the super-premium bourbon category. It’s one of the few emerging bourbon labels that leans into an identity built on craftsmanship and heritage that can stand on its very own.

First of all, it’s distilled by Fred Noe – the seventh-generation Master Distiller of Jim Beam. Then it’s “artfully blended” by Shinji Fukuyo, fifth-ever Chief Blender of Suntory, a pillar of Japanese whisky. The result is an incredibly smooth bourbon that blends complex flavors from both the East and West.

In short – Kentucky distilling tradition meets Japanese blending expertise.

It’s a delightful bourbon, unlike anything else out there. Partially finished in wine and sherry casks, it has a hint of fruitiness and spiciness, with a tangy oak sweetness of its own. I got to try it earlier this year and liked it so much, I heralded Legent’s praises in our Father’s Day Gift Guide.

To celebrate the the collaborative spirit of this new bourbon, Legent linked up with menswear designer Todd Snyder – a master at menswear collabs, from L.L. Bean to Timex – for a one-of-a-kind denim jacket.

Snyder designed a limited-edition Bourbon Selvedge Denim Jacket – a whiskey-hued jacket that’s expertly tailored in the United States with hand-selected Japanese denim.

The jacket is built on the body of Todd Snyder’s Dylan denim jacket, made from selvedge denim produced on old shuttle looms in Okayama, Japan. Then it’s shipped to Los Angeles, where its cut and sewn in the USA and hand-numbered by the designer.

It’s a true celebration of menswear craftsmanship, toasted by a bourbon born in the spirit of craftsmanship.

“I have been traveling back and forth to Japan for decades drawing inspiration from the dynamic people, culture and fashion,” says Snyder in a statement. “It’s been so fascinating to see how American trends have been adapted and re-interpreted in Japan, like denim, and vice versa, with Japanese trends in the U.S. I am honored to work alongside Legent to bring to life two cultures through quality craftsmanship.”

As a limited edition item, only 100 of these available for a limited time on ToddSnyder.com and at Todd Snyder retail locations in New York City for $248 USD. These sold out quickly upon release, but are replenishing a select number starting at 9am EST on Friday 10/23.
