I’ve talked about a lot of great movies on here, but today I get to talk about one of my favorite movies OF ALL TIME. I watch it multiple times a year. My wife only begrudgingly admits that it’s awesome, so I wait until she falls asleep on the couch next to me to watch it again. It’s Point Break, and it’s now available to watch FREE on Plex this month.

If you’ve never seen Point Break, think of the first Fast and Furious movie but with surfing instead of cars (I’m pretty confident they stole the entire plot from Point Break). Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves) is an “F-B-I AGENT!” who goes undercover to take down a team of bank-robbing surfers led by Bodhi (Patrick Swayze).
Throw in supporting roles from Gary Busey, Dr. Cox from Scrubs, and a baby Anthony Kiedis and the brilliant directing of Kathryn Bigelow (of The Hurt Locker fame) and you’ve got yourself one of the most entertaining, campy action movies ever made.
This movie is peak Patrick Swayze. This was two years after he literally knocked it out of the park with Road House, another undeniable action classic. Hot take: Swayze should be spoken of in the same action movie reverence as Arnold and Stallone.
I can pretty much quote this entire movie verbatim. It’s pretty easy when there are so many incredible quotes. The FBI agent scream. “Utah, get me two!” “Punk. Quarterback punk.” I could go on for another 500 words, but I’d rather just let you enjoy it for yourself.
