Despite having more than one accusation of rape against him, among other heinous allegations, James Deen still somehow did pretty damn well for himself at the 2016 AVN Awards.
Not only was he in attendance at the show, seen alongside the lovely Chanel Preston above, Deen was nominated for a whole SLEW of awards with 33 (!) nominations.

Embattled porn actor James Deen won two “Porn Oscars” at the Adult Video News Awards in Las Vegas on Saturday despite the recent flurry of accusations that he had sexually assaulted female performers both on set and off.
Deen shared the award for best group sex scene and for best double penetration sex scene, according to the AVN, after receiving 33 nominations in all. He had won three trophies at last year’s AVN Awards, one of the main events in adult entertainment.
Stoya, who was the first to voice claims of sexual assault against Deen, did not appear despite being scheduled to be a part of a panel about consent issues on porn sets at the AVN Expo. The panel was eventually canceled for undisclosed reasons.

Yes. At the Adult Video News Expo, uttering the name “Deen” elicited side-eye and tight lips from performers and publicists alike. No one I encountered wanted to side with him, but no one wanted to publicly bash him, either. In the press room, rumors circulated about certain nominees who asked reporters to turn their recorders off if they so much as brought Deen up in an interview. And you can’t blame them. Stars, directors, and writers alike work all year for this occasion, and their accomplishments are perhaps seemingly diminished by people asking about porn’s boy next door gone astray.
They also reported that when his face appeared on stage among the nominees it was met with the kind of reaction one might expect.
When his photo was plastered on the monitor as the nominees were read, no one seemed to cheer for him the way they yelled and clapped for the other performers.
Not much of a punishment if the accusations leveled against him by so many women eventually turn out to be true. Unfortunately at this point, Deen isn’t the only one who is still “completely baffled” by what allegedly happened with all of those women.
