And The Navy SEAL Who Shot Osama Bin Laden Is…

Robert O’Neill.

And he sounds like a boss.

Some back story. A couple weeks ago, Fox News announced they would air a special where they interviewed the Navy SEAL who actually shot and killed Osama Bin Laden. Today, in advance of the program, his name was released by the Daily Mail.

That name is Rob O’Neill and he sounds like a complete bad ass. He’s done so much with the SEALS, in fact, that he’s been portrayed in three movies. Zero Dark Thirty, Captain Phillips and Lone Survivor.

From the Daily Mail:

He was the lead jumper on the Maersk Alabama, the ship taken over by Somali pirates, whose rescue turned into the Oscar-winning movie Captain Phillips.

‘He was the first man out of the bird,’ his father remembered proudly.

He helped save SEAL Marcus Luttrell, the one man who lived to tell of a failed mission to capture a Taliban leader in Afghanistan. That made it to the big screen as ‘Lone Survivor.’

‘He is still friendly with Marcus, they had dinner together just the other day,’ said his father.

And then there was ‘Zero Dark Thirty,’ the Oscar-nominated story of bin Laden’s killing.

And what did you do today?

Why is O’Neill forgoing his vow of secrecy? Disenchantment, basically.

He is one of the most distinguished members ever of the elite force – but now faces being frozen out of its circles for revealing its most closely-held secrets

O’Neill was personally congratulated for killing bin Laden at close range with three shots to his forehead during the SEAL raid on Abbottobad, in Pakistan, on 2 May 2011.

His decision to speak out was prompted by losing some of his military benefits by quitting the SEALs after 16 years rather than staying for a full 20 years of service.

The special will air on Nov. 11 and 12 on Fox News. Now go read the full article because dude is bawse.
