Last night, the Ringer unleashed an explosive report that accused NBA executive Bryan Colangelo of tweeting from 5 different anonymous Twitter accounts to take shots at former GM Sam Hinkie and current Sixers players.
February, The Ringer received an anonymous tip that Bryan Colangelo, the Philadelphia 76ers’ president of basketball operations, had been secretly operating five Twitter accounts. Since then, we have scrutinized and archived those accounts in an attempt to verify the source’s claims that the longtime NBA executive has been using them as a platform to:
Criticize NBA players, including Joel Embiid, Jahlil Okafor, and Nerlens Noel
Publicly debate the decisions of his own coaching staff, as well as critique former Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie and Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri
Telegraph the 2017 trade in which the Sixers acquired the no. 1 overall pick that would become Markelle Fultz
Disclose nonpublic medical information about Okafor and gossip about Embiid and Fultz to members of the national and Philadelphia media
After learning of the report, the Sixers have taken swift action and have begun an investigation Colangelo’s online activity.

While Colangelo has accepted responsibility for using one of the accounts he has vehemently denied using the other four that had the most disparaging tweets.
In speaking to 76ers president Bryan Colangelo tonight in Los Angeles, Colangelo says he stands by his statement: No knowledge of “motives or origin.”

Nevertheless, Colangelo is denying he is responsible for those tweets and many league executives seem to believe this: It is hard to fathom a GM risking his job in such a reckless manner. Many are giving him the benefit of doubt on that level alone. It just doesn’t add up. https://t.co/BDn3n0os2a
