It’s been 2.5 months since the Orlando Magic’s Aaron Gordon lost the NBA Dunk Contest to Derrick Jones Jr. of the Miami Heat, but it sure as hell doesn’t sound like Gordon’s over the loss. After dunking over a fucking seven-footer (Tacko Fall) to try and take home the title as the best dunker in the league, Gordon got absolutely stiffed by one of the judges, Dwyane Wade, who actually had the guile to hold up a score of 9 after seeing the wild jam.

As most of us know by now, the aftermath of the loss led to Aaron Gordon admitting he’ll never partake in a Dunk Contest again, and Wade being questioned about rigging his judgement to help his former Heat teammate, Jones, take home the title and a cool $1 million. Understandably, Gordon wasn’t too thrilled — and he’s still beefin’ with D-Wade.

Evidence of that came Monday morning when Gordon actually dropped a ruthless AF (and a little petty) diss track that calls out Dwyane Wade, making it a point to call out the 9 out of 10 the Magic star received in the Dunk Contest. Take a listen to the track below.

OK, so what are your actual reactions to this thing? A banger? An airball? Some parts good, other parts bad? I mean, the line that really got me was when Aaron Gordon says, “Even Adam Silver told me I deserved the gold, didn’t get the trophy, but I got something to hold… deez nuts.” If that’s not lyrically genius, what the hell is?

With Gordon poking fun of Dwyane Wade’s affinity for drinking wine — as the Magic star sips a red vino in the video — the former Heat star couldn’t help but respond, and even offered up some free advice for Gordon to follow. Take a look at Wade’s reaction.

This is a hilarious beef that most of us never could’ve predicted coming, but I’m sure it’s all in good fun. Plus, with Aaron Gordon saying he’s spending quarantine as a chance to work on his rap skills, it gave him a chance to write a track that throws shade at Wade’s poor judging skills. Here’s what Gordon had to say to Sports Illustrated about his love of music.

I’ve always had an affinity for words and poetry. MCs are just kind of modern-day philosophers and modern-day poets. It’s just fun. It’s a great way to express myself. It’s like therapy, being able to see and psychoanalyze myself from different perspectives and put it into a catchy tune. The poetry is where it started from.

I can’t really tell if the Aaron Gordon diss track slaps or not, but, hey, many props to the guy for at least taking the chance to release it and have fun with it. Maybe we’ll be hearing more down the road from him.
