Aaron Rodgers was named the 2021/22 NFL MVP last week but his future in the league remains unclear. The 38-year-old’s relationship with the Packers has deteriorated in recent years and he may choose to retire or request a trade.

There is always a chance that Rodgers returns to Green Bay for the final year of his contract. With hopes of that happening, the organization is reportedly trying to offer him a large contract extension, but it may not be about money.

In turn, there are teams around the NFL with their eyes on Rodgers. Denver is one of them.

Even before the Broncos hired former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett as head coach, there was thought that Rodgers could head west to play at Mile High Stadium. When Denver hired Hackett, there was significant reason to believe that Rodgers could follow.

Those initial thoughts are now starting to pick up significant steam.

USA Today’s Brendan Sugrue said that Hackett is telling his new team that he plans to make a significant push to get Rodgers in navy blue and orange.

In addition, Pro Football Talk believes that there is a good chance that Rodgers lands in Denver once the dust settles.

However, it may not be that easy. Rodgers says that he has been in communication with the Packers and that he is going to take some time to think things over but wants to make a decision on his future pretty soon.

“I’ve got some decisions to make for sure,” Rodgers told NFL Network on February 10th. “Yesterday was like the first day that kind of felt like the offseason. . . . I’m gonna enjoy the next couple weeks. And, you know, I’ve had good conversations with Green Bay and I’ll, you know, do some contemplating and then make a decision here pretty quick.”

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport also said on Sunday that Rodgers and Green Bay are in a good place— at least, compared to where they were before. He also said that the team is willing to make him the richest quarterback in league history.

As of right now, it seems like Rodgers will either retire, return to the Packers or get traded to the Broncos. Stay tuned.
