Free agent 41-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers made his return to The Pat McAfee Show for his nationally-televised therapy session, and used his time to take shots at both the old and new Jets regimes. In addition to canning Rodgers, the Jets also fired their general manager and head coach last season.
While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, Aaron Rodgers smack-talked the New York Jets in numerous ways, including how they handled his release. According to Rodgers, the Jets had him fly cross-country only to tell them they’re “going in another direction” in a brief conversation.
As many in the NFL world have since pointed out, had the Jets simply called Rodgers to let him know they were cutting him, he would have taken that as a sign of disrespect, too.
Once Rodgers wrapped up with McAfee, longtime NFL reporter Josina Anderson took to Twitter to share her thoughts on the situation, while also cryptically implying that Rodgers himself as been the source of the “leaks” in the Jets building all along.
“With all due respect, Aaron Rodgers perhaps should check on how Joe Douglas feels after signing many of his friends, and Robert Saleh who was the subject of several hit pieces–both of whom lost their jobs–before carrying on about this. Lost-their-jobs. Yes, for multiple reasons (true), but let’s zoom out and have macro & self-awareness in this too…” Anderson tweeted following Rodgers’ appearance The Pat McAfee Show.
“The question of the day really pertains to leak(s). A lot of y’all have been fooled thinking hate lingered, where hate didn’t…I’ll leave it at that. The people who know what I’m talking about at FP [Florham Park, NJ, where the Jets’ facility is] know what I’m talking about…current and past.”

“Rodgers was the biggest leaker in the building for the last two years in spite of his phony ‘anti-leak, anti-media’ persona. He pretends to beef with reporters and texts them behind closed doors, hence ‘hate didn’t actually linger.’ A total fraud,” the above tweeter followed up, explaining his interpretation of Anderson’s comments.
Despite Rodgers’ frustration with the situation, many Jets fans are praising the way that new head coach Aaron Glenn handled the famously egotistical QB with a nonsense attitude. The NFL world at large seems to be clowning on Rodgers, too.
“Dude Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey had Rodgers fly all the way to NY to tell him to f— off. I’m already fully bought in on the new regime,” a popular post from a Jets fan celebrated.
“It’s nice that in such a divisive world, we can all unite behind Aaron Rodgers being f—— insufferable,” one viral tweet said.

“Aaron Rodgers simultaneously does NOT care what anyone else thinks about him, while also caring deeply about what other people think about him,” another summarized.
“Aaron Rodgers mad someone wasted his time is all time comedy and lack of self-awareness,” was one particularly acute assessment.
If Rodgers does decide he wants to play next season — which he, of course, did not entirely commit to during the McAfee interview — it appears his only option at this stage would be the Pittsburgh Steelers.
During the 2024 season with Gang Green, his lone as the franchise’s starting QB, leading them to a 5-12 record, Rodgers had a passer rating of 90.5 with 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
