Alyssa Thomas is speaking out after being criticized and suspended over a hard foul on Caitlin Clark.

Last week, Thomas delivered a hard foul on Clark during the Phoenix Mercury-Indiana Fever game. Thomas was not called for a foul on Clark, but was eventually suspended by the league upon review.

Clark’s teammate Sophie Cunningham immediately blasted the league for not protecting Clark during a podcast appearance.

“During real time last night, I did not see that happen,” Cunningham said. “None of our team saw it happen, because I promise you, if we would have seen that happen, we would have had [Clark’s] back. Unfortunately, this type of shit happens every single game to [Clark], and the league and the refs do absolutely nothing about it.”

On Tuesday, Thomas addressed the media and said she didn’t even know the play with Clark happened until it was brought to her attention after the game.

“Just the whole narrative that’s being painted out there. It’s unfortunate that it’s come to this over basketball. A lot of us, myself included, didn’t even know the play took place until after the game.

Thomas says she’s currently getting death threats and wants WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert.

“And now we’re being painted as thugs and there’s death threats out on us.”

“We’re so concerned with safety on the court, but time and time again we’re having people threatening our lives… The league remains silent. I’m sick and tired of it.”
