Indianapolis Colts’ rookie quarterback, Anthony Richardson, has been making significant strides during the team’s training camp.

The 21-year-old quarterback has already caught the attention of his coaching staff with his impressive athleticism and ability to quickly grasp the playbook.

One standout aspect of Richardson’s development is his physical transformation, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

Richardson now weighs 255 pounds, which is 11 pounds heavier than he was at the NFL combine when he recorded a blazing 4.43-second 40-yard dash at 244 pounds.

Despite the added weight, Richardson is carrying it with ease, proving himself to be a remarkable physical specimen.

The Colts have been particularly impressed with how rapidly Richardson has been absorbing the intricacies of their offensive system. Throughout the offseason practices, he has demonstrated his ability to receive play calls and effectively communicate them in the huddle—a skill that rookie quarterbacks often struggle with.

Albert Breer’s report praised Richardson’s capacity to learn, stating that his quick assimilation of the playbook is a major reason why the Colts were confident in selecting a player with only 13 starts in college at such a high draft position.

Despite his limited experience at the collegiate level, Richardson is showing signs of being a natural student of the game, which is a promising sign for his future growth and development as an NFL quarterback.

As training camp progresses, Richardson’s talent and work ethic have earned him an opportunity to showcase his skills with the first-team offense.

He is currently in competition with Gardner Minshew for the starting quarterback position.
