Colts QB Anthony Richardson left the game with an injury on Sunday after landing awkwardly on his throwing shoulder. He was in visible pain, unable to move his right arm.

The injury came in the second quarter of play during a matchup with the Titans and Indianapolis winning, 10-6.

Richardson attempted to get around a Tennessee defender on a designed run, being tackled by linebacker Harold Landry III. His shoulder felt the brunt of his 240-pound frame impacting the ground.

Richardson stayed on the ground, his right arm lying motionless while the rest of his body squirmed in pain.

Prior to the injury, he’d completed 9-of-12 attempts for 98 yards. Richardson had also carried the ball twice for five yards.

He’d been experiencing a breakout rookie year, throwing for 479 yards and rushing for 131 more. He’d totaled seven touchdowns, three through the air and four on the ground, living up to his billing as a top five draft pick.

Unfortunately, it’s the second major injury sustained this season, with the first being a concussion that held him out of a game earlier in the year.

He was officially listed as questionable to return to the action.

Many have been quick to react to the news.

“The Colts are about to ruin another generational talent.”

“Stop with the designed run plays for a while. At least let the dude have one game without getting injured.”

“Trying to be a mobile QB and got hurt.”

“He has to learn how to protect himself.”

Mobility is a key part to Richardson’s game, but it comes with a risk.
