Things are not well at Auburn at the moment when it comes to the Tigers’ football program and head coach Bryan Harsin.
Harsin’s seat was already beginning to warm up given the fact that Auburn is coming off of a 6-7 season in what was his first campaign as head coach. Auburn has also had tremendous turnover when it comes to the rest of its coaching staff this year.
Then, the cherry on top if you will, involves rumors about Harsin that have nothing at all to do with his coaching abilities. Last week, Harsin’s wife and one of his daughters jumped on Instagram to defend the head coach as rumors swirled.
Now, Auburn has released a statement regarding the mess involving the football program and Harsin. The university made it clear that it’s looking for information anywhere it may appear, but also stated it does “not make institutional decisions based on social media posts or media headlines.”
The statement reads as if the university could be fishing for dirt, which could then lead to Harsin being fired with cause leaving the school off the hook for paying a buyout.
People on social media certainly had that thought after reading the statement as well and reacted accordingly on Twitter:
