The mighty Auburn Tigers paid for the luxury to lose on Saturday.

On Saturday, Auburn paid New Mexico State $1.85 million to play a game in Auburn.

Unfortunately for Auburn, they got embarrassed in a 31-10 loss by New Mexico State despite being 26-point favorites.

A disappointed Auburn head coach, Hugh Freeze addressed the media after the game and expressed his disappointment.

“As good as last week felt, as complete as we played in all three phases, it was the exact opposite today,” said Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze. “It’s very disappointing. Our university deserves a better effort than that and it’s my job to make sure they give that and we did not today.”

Kill will receive a $25,000 bonus for beating Auburn, which he receives for each win over a Power 5 program. On the season, Kill has earned $80,000 in incentive bonuses: $10,000 each for wins over New Mexico and UTEP; and $35,000 for a nine-win season.
