The Herd
Last month, we discovered Stephen A. Smith was poised to become the highest paid personality at ESPN despite showing he knows nothing about football (among other sports) on an impressive number of occasions.
However, Smith is just one of the many talking heads in existence who gets paid way too much money to constantly spout off Hot Takes designed to rile people up only to have a sizeable chunk of them labeled as Freezing Cold Takes when everything is said and done.
One of those personalities is Colin Cowherd, who’s recently found himself embroiled in an ongoing feud with Baker Mayfield that can be traced back to critical comments he made after the Browns quarterback stared down Hue Jackson when the Browns faced off against the Bengals in December.

Since then, they’ve clashed on multiple occasions—including the time Cowherd said Odell Beckham Jr. had no interest in going to Cleveland—but things really heated up this month after Mayfield once again came to the defense of his star wide receiver following another dumb comment from the radio host.
Earlier this week, Mayfield started selling shirts lambasting Cowherd before saying he “needs to be put in his place”—a comment that the commenter didn’t take to kindly to according to the response he issued on The Herd on Wednesday.

Cowherd admitted to being wrong about things in the past and accused Mayfield of confusing his bad takes for lying, saying:
“I think his confusing wrong with lying. Nothing I’ve ever said about [Odell Beckham, Jr.] was factually incorrect. OBJ gave me a list of places he wanted to play, Cleveland wasn’t one of them. Maybe he changed his mind, but what he told me—he didn’t bring up Cleveland.”
However, Cowherd doesn’t appear to regret his attacks and tore into Mayfield for having the nerve to actually respond to his constant bullshit, saying:
“Baker your problem is you’re in a fight now with a media person. That’s below Tom Brady. That’s beneath Russell Wilson. That’s beneath NFL quarterbacks like the legendary Bart Starr. Brett Farve didn’t do this. You’re actually, Baker, proving my point. I never questioned if you could play. I said I didn’t want to deal with your immaturity and judgment.”
How dare the quarterback actually defend himself and his teammates when someone with a national platform says idiotic things about them.
I eagerly await Mayfield’s next response as I make the popcorn I’m going to need to watch this drama continue to unfold.
