Baker Mayfield Paints Hilarious Mental Picture With ‘Horns Down’ Troll While Living In Texas

Baker Mayfield hates the Texas Longhorns but he lives in Austin, Texas. That creates a pretty hilarious mental image.

Mayfield, who grew up 15 miles from the University of Texas campus, was not recruited by the Longhorns. He loathes them with his whole entire heart. Always has, always will.

That dislike only increased when Mayfield started 46 games in three years at Oklahoma from 2015 to 2017. He got three shots at Texas during his career and won both of the last two to finish his career.

In the years since his graduation, Mayfield has been very vocal about his feelings toward the Longhorns.

Especially when the Big 12 tried to crack down on the ‘Horns Down’ gesture.

He did not hold back when asked about the crackdown, later said that he would rather quit than play for Texas, and taught the participants at his football camp how to do ‘Horns Down.’ Mayfield was especially animated at a basketball game between the two schools in 2018.

All of this goes to say that Mayfield’s hatred toward the Longhorns is no secret. It’s not a surprise.

Baker Mayfield likes to shake things up.

Saturday’s game marks the 119th edition of the Red River Shootout Rivalry. Mayfield is in Dallas for the weekend and will be the guest picker on College GameDay.

Prior to sitting next to Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis and Desmond Howard, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ starting quarterback joined the Pat McAfee Show on Friday. He continued to rip into Texas throughout the broadcast and revealed how he likes to keep things spicy back home during the offseason.

Mayfield still resides in Austin — home of the Longhorns — and occasionally throws ‘Horns Down’ on the streets just to get the people going. It could have been a joke, but knowing Mayfield, it wasn’t.

Imagining Baker Mayfield walking around Austin, Texas, throwing ‘Horns Down’ in a sea of burnt orange is way too funny. And you just know that he LOVES when people react.
