Josh from BlacktipH, the largest fishing channel on YouTube, is over in The Bahamas this week. The purpose of the trip was to catch some high-speed Wahoo, one of the best-tasting fish in the world, but there are specific fishing conditions which are best for catching high-speed Wahoo. To kill time until the tide/conditions were right, they did some bottom fishing.

The Bahamas is home to one of the best fisheries in the world. The vibrant coral reefs are covered in all sorts of tropical fish. Those tiny reef fish bring in the larger predator fish (snapper, grouper, etc) and in turn, those bigger fish bring in the massive sharks. While bottom fishing, Josh from BlacktipH managed to hook up and land a MASSIVE 1,000-pound Tiger Shark.

I’ve never caught a Tiger Shark myself. I did have the chance to get up close and personal with one a few years back on a trip to Staniel Cay Yacht Club in The Bahamas. I was out JetSkiing with a buddy and we spotted this 10-foot shark in the crystal clear waters and hauled ass over to catch it. Miraculously, the shark let us get really close on the loud jet skis before it spooked and took off, but we were able to get a great look at the shark. They’re truly majestic creatures.

Big congrats to Josh on his 1,000-pound Tiger Shark and I’m glad to see that the shark returned to the water healthy as ever.
