Bo Nix lost the Pac-12 Championship on Friday night and was likely eliminated from Heisman Trophy contention. He will be in New York City next weekend, but either Michael Penix or Jayden Daniels are expected to be named the best player in college football.

The three-point loss was a bummer way end to Nix’s five-year career. Especially when ESPN zoned in on the Oregon quarterback for an uncomfortable amount of time as he wrestled with his emotions on the sideline as Washington ran out the clock during the final drive of the game.

As difficult as the losing effort might have been, Bo Nix was in great spirits while talking to the media. The former four/five-star prospect, who began his career with three years at Auburn, started 60 games over five season. It has been a wild ride.

Although Oregon is slated to play in a New Year’s Six bowl game, Nix might or might not suit up. Friday may have been his final college football game.

Bo Nix offered profound perspective.

Nix offered profound perspective about his career and the loss while speaking to media in Las Vegas. The sun will come up on Saturday morning. Gratitude was at the forefront.

Rather than dwelling on the loss, Nix kept the focus on the little things that he may never get to experience again. A smile even graced his face.

Meanwhile, just across the room, Huskies head coach Kalen DeBoer waited on his turn to speak to reporters and caught the end of Nix’s press conference. The message rang true for him too.

Nix has had quite the journey over the the last five seasons, as he said. And yet, rather than sulking over a truly demoralizing and heart-breaking loss in one of the best the games of the year so far, the emphasis was on the positive. That’s pretty cool.
